Guitarist Paul Metsa and harmonica player/vocalist Sonny Earl started playing together in 1997.
Paul Metsa is a legendary guitar player and songwriter from Minnesota. He was born and raised on the Iron Range and moved to Minneapolis in 1978. In 2021, Paul sold his house and then moved Duluth where he currently lives. He has received seven Minnesota Music Awards and has played more than five thousand gigs, including forays to Iceland and Siberia. Paul is a radio and television host and is author three books: the memoir of Blue Guitar Highway, 2023’s Alphabet Soup, and the recently published Blood in the Tracks (The Minnesota Musicians Behind Dylan’s Masterpiece).

Electric Fetus is excited to host authors Paul Metsa and Rick Shefchik for a book signing on Saturday, September 23rd at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the release of Blood in the Tracks. There will also be a special performance by Paul Metsa and Sonny Earl, with special guest Gregg Inhofer.
The 2023 Duluth Dylan Fest will take place May 20-28, 2023 and will host primarily in-person events, along with a couple livestream/zoom events (All Fest activities are Central Time Zone).
Paul Metsa is appearing at The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis on March 25, 2023 as part of the Music and Storyteller Sessions. The event serves as a celebration of his book Alphabet Jazz- Poetry, Prose, Stories, and Songs moderated by Andrea Swensson with Special Musical Guests Sonny Earl and Mari Harris.

We talk about the making and release of the new Dylan release More Blood, More Tracks box set — 6 CDs featuring NYC outtakes where Dylan recorded these songs for the first time, and the remastered 5 songs from the Minneapolis sessions that appeared on Blood on the Tracks record recorded in 1974 and released in 1975.
I talk with four of the original players in the studio, including Kevin Odegard, Billy Peterson, Peter Ostroushko, and Gregg Inhoffer. Chris Weber joins us on Skype, and Bill Berg and Jon Bream join us on the phone.

A dramatic new video will premier online this week underscoring the hateful legacy of gun and racial violence in America to accompany the new Civil Rights anthem “Ain’t Gonna Whistle Dixie anymore,” which will be one of the featured live performances September 30 during the annual Actions for Change Concert in Parkland, Fla., -- site of the February 2018 tragic school shooting in which 14 students and 3 staff members died.
