MaximumFolk.com was established by legendary Minnesota musician Paul Metsa in 2007 as a vehicle to make his catalog of original material available. It will also feature artists that Metsa both reveres and wants to promote, as well as musicians under the radar and deserving of wider recognition. Metsa envisions a future for MaximumFolk.com that includes everything from polka to punk, and all points in between.
Metsa has been around the block a few times, and in his travels, has met musicians, poets, artists, and photographers, all of whom will have a presence on MaximumFolk.com. As he says “it is both a label and a lifestyle.” Metsa holds in high regard the great talent scouts, archivists, and label owners who had a vision to record, archive, and promote artists with the primary requirements that they are honest and they swing. Just that, and regardless of market pressure or what is on the charts. MaximumFolk.com promises to treat all artists on the roster with dignity, fairness, and respect. We also promise to provide our patrons with an ever growing catalog of live shows, new recordings, and titles long since out of print.
